Hamilton's 3rd Annual
Environmental Film and Arts Festival

Were you aware that there’s a city in Ontario with a castle on a lake? Where art masterpieces hang as lookers-on marvel? Where 100+ waterfalls tumble over an escarpment’s edge?

Paradise Found
Hamilton is a city of incredible green spaces and home to the breathtaking beauty of Royal Botanical Gardens. RBG is one of Canada’s largest and most unique displays of cultured gardens and nature sanctuaries, spanning over 2,700 acres, with over 23 kilometres of walking trails.

Hamilton also offers wonderful opportunities to commune with nature on the water’s edge. Our award-wining waterfront parks; Bayfront Park, Pier 4 and Confederation Park can help make you feel “coastal” only minutes from the heart of the city.

Take Your Place in History
Ours is a region steeped in history…from Dundas and Ancaster, two of Canada’s oldest communities, to Stoney Creek’s Battlefield Monument, which commemorates Canada’s victory in the War of 1812. There is no better place to experience Canadian history than Hamilton.

Dundurn Castle is a National Historic Site and the perfect place to begin your journey into Canada’s past. Whitehern, a well-preserved urban estate and another National Historic Site, continues your journey into the past, providing a last, fond look at Victorian life before the onset of World War. Other notable stops on your historical tour should include; HMCS Haida, Fieldcote Museum, Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, Parks Canada Discovery Centre, Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology and Westfield Heritage Centre.

Hamilton’s arts scene is vibrant and eclectic. The iconic Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH) houses one of Canada’s finest collections of art, with over 9000 pieces. Affiliated with McMaster University, the McMaster Museum of Art showcases an eclectic range of work, with intriguing visiting exhibitions and pieces from their extensive permanent collection.

A short stroll from the AGH is the growing James North Art District. Enjoy the cafes and pleasant ambiance as you explore the many galleries, shops and studios that now call this historic neighbourhood home. Be sure to catch the James Street Art Crawl that takes place in the evening of the second Friday of each month.

The Carnegie Gallery, operated by the Dundas Art and Craft Association, annually presents over two dozen major and mini exhibitions, featuring the work of local artists and artisans.

Naturally… Hamilton Offers More Fun
There is probably no other major city in Ontario that will get you into the countryside faster than Hamilton. The city is literally surrounded by nature at its most spectacular…bordered by the Niagara Escarpment, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hamilton Harbour and Lake Ontario.

Hamilton is also a “hiker’s heaven”, with over 500 miles of trails, 100 waterfalls and 8 major Conservation Areas, that encompass a world biosphere and access Ontario’s famous Bruce Trail, one of the most spectacular hiking trails in the world. Our most recent conservation area, Eramosa Karst is unique in Ontario.
